Oklahoma Route 66 Museum in Clinton

Want to learn more about the Oklahoma Route 66 Museum? Take a break and come to the Al Harris Library’s Instruction Room on Wednesday, April 25, at 3:00 p.m. You will be informed and entertained! Pat Smith, Director of the Museum, will be discussing the Museum's purpose, its origins, its collection, and its upcoming centennial activities. The Oklahoma Route 66 Museum is operated by The Oklahoma Historical Society. Exhibits begin with “The World’s Largest Curio Cabinet,” home of special treasures collected from along Route 66. An audio tour written and narrated by Michael Wallis, author of Route 66: The Mother Road, guides visitors through six decades of Route 66 history. Google Launches Free 411 Service

Google threw a new product called Goog-411 into Google Labs today - a free telephone based information service that could replace toll 411 calls. About 2.6 billion 411 calls are made in the U.S. each year, and it is a $7 billion/year market.
Goog-411 can be accessed by dialing 1-800-GOOG-411.

Oklahoma Centennial Facts Contest/Fine Forgiveness

Come to the Al Harris Library this week and help us celebrate National Library Week! At the Circulation Desk, you can participate in the Oklahoma Centennial Facts Contest/Fine Forgiveness by answering questions on Oklahoma. There are a total of 15 questions, and you can pick 10 of these questions to answer. Staff at the Circulation Desk will take the name and the number of correct answers and issue gift cards for fine forgiveness that can be used through 12/31/2007. $1 in fine forgiveness will be given for each correct answer. So come to the Library and test your knowledge of Oklahoma!

Student Book Discussion to Celebrate National Library Week

We will come together next week at the Al Harris Library to celebrate National Library Week. On Wednesday, April 18 at 3:30 p.m. in the Instruction Room, some of the students who participated in the "My Favorite Book" NLW event will be talking about their favorite books. Out of the 39 entries that we received, 13 of those participants will be discussing their favorite books on Wednesday. All 39 entries are on display on the 1st floor (Reference area) of the Library. Thanks to all students who are participating in either the display and/or discussion. Hope to see you at the library for this special event!

Attention! Attention! Attention! Student Research Activity Fair


Southwestern Oklahoma State University’s 14th annual Student Research/Scholarly Activity Fair will be held this Wednesday, April 11, on the Weatherford campus.
The fair will feature 115 SWOSU students, sponsored by 24 faculty sponsors, presenting posters and oral presentations.
The fair will be held from 12 noon until 3 p.m. in the Memorial Student Center Ballroom on the SWOSU campus. Admission is free, and the public is invited.
