Winning Ways
The state of Oklahoma prints a monthly publication about our lottery (L 1900.6 W776 in Oklahoma Documents.) Although there is still some debate about its’ value, the lottery has provided $232 million to education in Oklahoma. 45% of the money goes to kindergarten through 12th grade (includes some compensation for teachers and support employees.) 45% goes to tuition grants, loans and scholarships for colleges and universities. This includes construction of facilities, capital outlays and technology. 5% goes to teachers’ retirement. 5% goes to the school consolidation and assistance fund.
